Szijjarto announced plans to build an oil pipeline between Hungary and Serbia by 2028

The construction of the oil pipeline between Hungary and Serbia will be completed in 2028. This was announced on April 2 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
"Construction can be physically started at the end of this year and the beginning of next year, as a result of which a new oil pipeline will be laid between the two countries, which will be fully ready for use by 2028," he said in a broadcast broadcast on Facebook (owned by Meta, an organization recognized in Russia as extremist and banned)..
Szijjarto stressed that through this pipeline Hungary will be able to provide raw materials to the Serbian oil refinery in Pancevo, which plays a key role in the country's energy supply. It is specified that the capacity of the new pipeline will be 4-5 million tons per year.
On January 15, Szijjarto announced that Hungary and Serbia would accelerate the construction of an oil pipeline between the two countries amid US sanctions that undermine European energy security.
Earlier, on January 12, Szijjarto said that the new package of US sanctions against Russia would create serious energy problems for Central Europe. According to him, Budapest will work with partners to ensure that sanctions slightly increase fuel prices.
