Khorkina noted Ovechkin's value for world hockey

Alexander Ovechkin, the Russian forward of the Washington Capitals hockey club, is a valuable player known all over the world. On April 2, Svetlana Khorkina, a two-time Olympic champion and nine-time world champion in gymnastics, told Izvestia.
She stressed that Ovechkin has a serious responsibility, as he can become the best scorer in the history of the NHL (National Hockey League) regular season.
"It's no secret that athletes are superstitious, and God only knows what Sasha is feeling right now, what responsibility she has," Khorkina said.
The gymnast recalled her excitement and sense of responsibility during the Olympic Games. She believes that at the moment the hockey player is experiencing something similar — there is a real struggle going on inside him and an awareness of the importance of the moment.
Khorkina wished Ovechkin to cope with his inner feelings and do everything possible to make history. According to her, the athlete needs to unite with the team to achieve a historic success.
On the night of April 2, Ovechkin scored his 891st goal in the NHL regular season against the Boston Bruins and reduced the gap from Canadian Wayne Gretzky to three goals.
