On April 2, Metropolitan Theodosius addressed the residents of the city of Cherkasy in Ukraine, warning of the upcoming Kiev assault on two temples of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).

Feodosiy noted that the war against Orthodoxy launched by the Ukrainian authorities covers all new regions of the country, specifying that believers literally took up all-round defense that night in the Chernivtsi region in order to prevent the capture of the Assumption Cathedral by the militants of the Right Sector (an organization recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation). Now Kiev is threatening the churches of the UOC in Cherkassy.

"Cathedrals that stand empty are not enough for them, it is not enough that they have driven several thousand believers out into the open sky, and we are wandering around different churches, in basements. They want to capture two more temples. Two typical churches are those of St. Andrew the First—Called on Bintitsa and the Nativity of Christ in the Southwestern Microdistrict," the metropolitan said.

He emphasized the special cynicism of the authorities in the fact that the order to plunder the shrines was given at the height of Lent. According to the clergyman, for the second day now, monks and parishioners of the Kiev Caves Lavra have been unable to enter the caves where the relics of the Caves ascetics are kept - this is one of the sacred places for millions of Christians.

"I understand that the wounds have not healed yet, neither physical nor mental wounds. But in order to appear before God with a clear conscience, we must do our best. At least come, pray and do everything possible so that our shrine is not seized," the metropolitan said.

On April 5, at 18:00, the REN TV channel will release a film dedicated to the situation with the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, "Tomb Desecrators: 5 Harbingers of Disaster."

The Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ) announced the beginning of the seizure of the Nearby caves of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra on March 28. It was noted that Ukrainian police officers entered the closed premises of the monastery. One of the employees of the lavra was spotted on the territory with a saw-"grinder" in his hands. On March 6, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine announced that a special commission would assess the condition and safety of the relics of saints in the Near and Far caves of the Kiev Caves Lavra.
