The auto expert listed the mistakes of drivers when using the air conditioner

Turning on the air conditioner at full power in a car with a sun-warmed interior is a gross mistake that can lead to a reduction in the service life of the system. Pavel Konstantinov, Director of the Lux AG Avilon Mechanical Repair Department, warned about this.

"Imagine: the car stood for an hour under the scorching sun, the air inside is hot, the compressor is overheated — and then it is sharply loaded. It is much more reasonable to open the windows first, ventilate, and only then turn on the cooling smoothly," the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper quoted Konstantinov as saying on April 2.

Some drivers also neglect the maintenance of the air conditioner. The freon eventually goes away, the filters become clogged, and the pipes crack. If you don't check in for diagnostics once every couple of years, the system will start working at its limit, and then it will fail, the specialist said.

He also advised not to turn on the air conditioner at maximum power for a long time due to increased wear of the compressor, periodically run it in winter (otherwise the oil in the system does not circulate, the seals dry out), and also not to ignore the signs of its malfunction (extraneous noise, weak airflow, unpleasant odor).
