The media reported on Greece's plans to spend €25 billion on defense over 12 years.

By 2037, the Greek authorities will allocate €25 billion for defense spending. This was reported by Bloomberg on April 2, citing Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
"The Minister of Defense knows that he has €25 billion at his disposal for the entire duration of the program," he is quoted as saying in the publication.
Bloomberg notes that the new strategy is designed for 12 years. It implies the development of the Greek defense industry and the integration of new technologies into the Greek army. We are talking about the introduction of drones and anti-drone weapons, the use of artificial intelligence and increased cybersecurity.
The publication emphasizes that the new plan, which will determine the defense potential of Greece in the medium term, appeared as part of Europe's efforts to increase military spending.
Earlier, on March 21, Kyriakos Velopoulos, a member of the national parliament from the Greek Solution party, said that the plan proposed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for the rearmament of Europe was not suitable for all EU countries. He noted that Greece's defense spending already exceeds 4% of GDP.
On the same day, Bloomberg reported that NATO plans to ask the EU and Canada to increase their stocks of weapons and equipment by about 30% in the coming years. It is noted that meeting these requirements will require huge financial efforts on the part of most EU countries.
