- Hutsul called on the UN Secretary General to pay attention to the situation around Gagauzia

On April 2, the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, after her arrest, called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to pay attention to the situation around the region.
"The criminal case against me is not just an attack on a particular politician, but a deliberate attempt to deprive Gagauzia of its legitimately elected leadership," she said in a message on her Telegram channel.
Gutsul stressed that the Moldovan judicial system is being used by the authorities as a tool to "dismantle the autonomy" of Gagauzia. She added that the Moldovan authorities act with impunity and are confident that their actions will not be resisted in the international arena.
The head of Gagauzia asked the UN Secretary General not to remain indifferent to the situation, to support the Gagauz people and to defend the autonomy.
On April 1, Gutsul appealed to US Vice President Jay Dee Vance, saying that her illegal detention by the Moldovan authorities was part of a campaign to eliminate autonomy.
Hutsul was detained at the Chisinau airport on March 25. According to the Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office, this happened after her name was found on the list of persons prohibited from leaving the country. On March 28, the head of Gagauzia was arrested for 20 days.
