Toyota Motor has announced the launch of a recall campaign involving Land Cruiser 300 SUVs. The recall program has been coordinated with Rosstandart. The reason for the recall was the likelihood of engine failure, and it needs to be replaced, the company's press service said.

The recalled Land Cruiser 300s are equipped with a specific V35A engine that contains the crankshaft's main bearings, allowing it to rotate in the engine block during operation. There is a possibility that during a certain period of production, the remnants of engine machining were not removed from the unit during production and subsequently contaminated the engine assembly, Toyota Motor explained.

Due to the configuration of these engines, the pressure on the main bearings is such that if the remnants of mechanical processing stick to the bearings and the motor continues to operate under increased loads, bearing failure may occur over time.

"This can lead to possible knocks in the engine, uneven engine operation, inability to start the engine and/or stop it. In the vehicles under consideration, stopping the engine while driving results in a loss of power. If such a situation occurs while driving, the risk of an emergency situation increases," the company said.

The recall covers Toyota Land Cruiser 300 vehicles manufactured between April 26, 2021 and February 08, 2022. The owners of such cars were invited to official dealerships, where a free engine replacement will be carried out.

On March 7, it was reported that Toyota Motor was recalling 2,233 Toyota Highlander vehicles in Russia, which were sold from November 28, 2020 to April 21, 2023. The reason for the recall was the increased risk of injury in an accident by passengers who sit in the back seats.

On January 31, Kia Russia and CIS announced a recall of 29.1 thousand Kia Sportage vehicles. The reason for the recall is a possible short circuit of the electrical circuit of the ABS/ESC unit. This can lead to an excessive increase in current and increase the risk of fire in the engine compartment.
