The Prosecutor General's Office proposed to set limits on the issuance of bank cards at the legislative level and regulate the activities of realtors. This was announced on April 2 by Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, delivering his annual report to the Federation Council.

"I consider it necessary to introduce limits on the issuance of bank cards at the legislative level, as well as to regulate the activities of realtors through which fraudsters quickly sell apartments of victims," Krasnov stressed.

The relevant proposals, according to the Prosecutor General, have been sent to the Russian Security Council.

Krasnov stressed that access to 44.5 thousand websites that spread false information about the provision of banking services was blocked.

He added that 9.5 thousand lawsuits for 1.7 billion rubles were filed against droppers who provided their accounts for the transfer of money to them by victims of fraudsters.

On April 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law aimed at protecting citizens from telephone and Internet scams. In particular, banks are now required to extend anti-fraud measures not only to online transfers, but also to ATM transactions.
