Experienced drivers were more likely than newcomers to get into an accident in 2024

Drivers with high driving experience were most often involved in road accidents in Russia in 2024. This was reported on April 2 by RIA Novosti with reference to data from the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
So, according to the results of last year, the largest share of accidents on Russian roads occurred with the participation of drivers who have more than 30 years of experience. A total of 16.7 thousand such incidents occurred.
At the same time, the smallest proportion of accidents was recorded with the participation of novice drivers. They turned out to be the most accurate on the roads, with a total of 8,000 accidents involving drivers with up to 2 years of experience.
The day before, it was reported that the number of deaths in accidents involving electric scooters and other means of individual mobility (SIM) increased by more than 25% last year. Most of the deaths in SIM accidents were recorded in Moscow and the Krasnodar Territory. The number of victims of such accidents in 2024 increased by 44.5% and reached 4,591 people.
Also, on April 1, the bonus-malus coefficient (KBM) was automatically recalculated, which affects the cost of the CTP policy. After recalculation, the BMI for accident-free drivers decreases, while for emergency drivers it increases.
