The climatic winter has ended in the Murmansk region. It entered the top five warmest winters in 90 years, the regional UGMS reported on Wednesday, April 2.
According to preliminary data, the average seasonal air temperature in the Kola Arctic exceeded the climatic norm by 1.9 degrees. Of the five winter months, four were warm, writes the Bi-port news agency.
A negative anomaly of the monthly average air temperature was recorded only in December (-0.6 degrees), a small positive anomaly was noted in February (+5.1 degrees). In November and February, absolute temperature maxima for these months were updated at a number of hydrometeorological stations.
Last winter, a record amount of precipitation also fell. In the regional capital, their number was about 192% of the climatic norm. This is 17% more than the record set in the winter of 2017.
Forecasters expect that in April 2025, the temperature background in the region will be above the climatic norm by 1 degree. Precipitation will be consistent with its norm.
Earlier, Izvestia published a weather forecast for the whole of April and Easter. The air temperature in the regions will vary greatly from day to day.
