About 30 countries are ready to maintain peace in Ukraine after its establishment, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País on April 2.

He noted that the United States may require some intelligence, space and air resources.

"About 30 countries have already declared their readiness to maintain peace as soon as it is established, in order to monitor it with the understanding that the line of contact <...>.. They will be supported by Ukrainians themselves," Sikorski said.

According to the Polish minister, the European Union will not be able to take on such a task, NATO's efforts are needed for this.

Former Assistant Deputy Secretary of Defense Stephen Bryan stressed on March 31 that the deployment of the European military in Ukraine would require a lot of resources that Europe does not have. He noted that if both sides agree to a settlement deal, it may collapse if Britain and France send their troops to the territory of Ukraine in order to allegedly protect it.

In turn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow is categorically against the deployment of so-called Western peacekeepers in Ukraine, as this is fraught with the danger of a direct clash between Russia and NATO.
