Fraudsters have come up with a new way to deceive pensioners, they steal money under the pretext of recalculating seniority. This was reported on April 2 by the TASS news agency, citing materials from the Russian Interior Ministry.

According to law enforcement agencies, the attackers call elderly people and, posing as employees of the pension fund, ask them to dictate passport data, allegedly to recalculate their work experience.

A little later, the person is informed that, according to these data, a money transfer was made to Ukraine and the pensioner is threatened with a criminal case. This is how scammers convince a potential victim to withdraw their savings and transfer them to a courier "for safekeeping."

Earlier, on March 31, it was reported that scammers were opening a fundraiser for a terminally ill person in order to appropriate the collected money for themselves after his death. After collecting the amount, the patient dies because he was terminally ill, and part of the money is transferred to the fund's account from the clinic where the patient was. This money becomes available for arbitrary use.
