Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia, scheduled for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII), is an important event in the context of the changes taking place in the world. This was announced on April 2 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

The diplomat recalled that on April 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, announced that he was expecting Xi Jinping to Russia on the occasion of the celebration of May 9.

"The phrases that were said about Xi Jinping being expected in Moscow, waiting for him to participate in events related to the Victory anniversary, confirmed by the Chinese side, are not just a protocol part, this is an extremely important event in the context of the changes taking place in the world," she said on Sputnik radio.

Zakharova noted that the upcoming anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War is not just a "routine date", but a "test", given that the holiday is being forgotten in the West.

"China and I will celebrate this anniversary together, and the Chinese president will visit us, who said so and who also places special emphasis on the role of our countries both then and now, since we are two permanent members of the UN Security Council," the diplomat concluded.
