A resident of Izhevsk was detained on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act.

Employees of the Office of the Federal Security Service (UFSB) of Russia in the Udmurt Republic prevented a terrorist attack in an educational institution. This was announced in a press release on April 2.

It is noted that a resident of Izhevsk was going to commit an armed attack and for this purpose bought components for the manufacture of an explosive device, prepared a kind of "manifesto" describing the motives of the planned actions and intended to purchase firearms.

"The suspect was detained by officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Udmurt Republic, and therefore his illegal actions were not brought to light due to circumstances beyond his control," the agency said in a statement.

A criminal case has been opened against the man under Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph "b" of Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Preparation for the commission of a terrorist act").

Earlier, on March 28, it was reported that Russian FSB officers prevented a terrorist attack in an administrative building in Moscow, which was planned to be committed by a recruited attacker on behalf of the special services of Ukraine. A criminal case has been opened.
