China positively assessed Putin's meeting with the country's foreign minister
Sun Xiuwen, Associate professor at the Institute of Central Asian Studies at Lanzhou University, positively assessed the new round of bilateral relations between Russia and China following the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Moscow. She stated the corresponding opinion in an article for the Global Times on April 1.
"Bilateral relations, which have a strong internal momentum, contribute to ensuring global justice... Russia is making every effort to bring the Russian-Chinese strategic partnership to a new level, continuing to deepen cooperation within multilateral structures such as the UN, SCO and BRICS," she said.
It is reported that both sides of the dialogue agreed to strengthen coordination between their diplomatic departments and conduct thorough preparations for exchanges at all levels throughout the year.
"This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations. In the current complex and changing international situation, Russia and China are closely coordinating efforts to ensure stability in the world," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a press release from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
On April 1, Putin announced the successful joint work of Russia and China in the UN, SCO and BRICS. The Russian leader also asked to convey his friendly greetings to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. He added that he was waiting for the Chinese president in Moscow for a solemn parade on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War and World War II. In response, the Chinese Foreign Minister stressed that the friendship between Beijing and Moscow is long-term, not opportunistic. At the same time, both countries have broad prospects for further cooperation.
