The ex-commander of the 53rd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has admitted defeat of the military operation in the Kursk region. He made a corresponding statement on March 1 in an interview with Channel Five.

"The Kursk operation is a failure at this stage," he stated.

According to the military, the plan could be called successful if its implementation lasted two months instead of six.

On April 1, the Second Western District Military Court sentenced four Ukrainian militants for terrorist activities in the Kursk region. The court found them guilty under clauses "a" and "b" of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Commission by a group of persons by prior agreement of a terrorist act that entailed grave consequences"). It is noted that the court sentenced the Ukrainian militants to terms ranging from 14 to 15 years in prison, with the first three years served in prison, and after that in a high—security penal colony.
