The death toll from the worst forest fires in the southeastern regions of South Korea has increased to 31 people. This was announced on Wednesday, April 2, according to the Yonhap news agency.
Forest fires damaged more than 4,000 houses, almost 2,000 agricultural and livestock facilities, seven temples and 986 other structures, the newspaper said. About 48,000 g of forests in 11 regions were burned out, and more than 3,000 people were left homeless.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Korea said that one person who was seriously injured in Gyeongsang Province died in hospital. As a result, the total death toll reached 31.

Yonhap said on March 27 that forest fires in the southeastern province of North Gyeongsang had killed 26 people and injured 30 others. Among the buildings, 325 objects were damaged, of which 117 were residential buildings. In this regard, 24 thousand residents were initially evacuated.
