Russian forward of the Washington Capitals hockey club Alexander Ovechkin on Wednesday, April 2, rose to 27th place in the list of the best players in history in terms of the number of matches played in the National Hockey League (NHL) championships.

According to RIA Novosti, Ovechkin is taking part in the match against the Boston Bruins. For the striker, this is already 1,484 in his career in league championships.

In terms of the number of games, Ovechkin has already caught up with Rod Brindamore and shared 27th place with him.

At the top of the list is Patrick Marleau, who has played 1,779 games in his career.

On March 30, Ovechkin scored his 890th goal in the NHL regular season. Wayne Gretzky currently holds the record with 894 goals. Ovechkin is expected to be able to beat the Canadian in the near future.
