CNN reported on a possible meeting between Dmitriev and Witkoff this week in Washington.

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), will visit Washington this week to meet with Steve Witkoff, special envoy to the United States. This was reported on April 2 by CNN, citing sources.

"Senior Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev is expected to visit Washington this week to meet with a senior official of [US President Donald] Trump. Trump's Steve Witkoff for talks on strengthening relations between the two countries in their quest to end the conflict in Ukraine," said two sources with knowledge of the plans.

If the meeting takes place, it will be the first visit by a senior Russian official to Washington since the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. It is reported that Dmitriev was even temporarily sanctioned so that the State Department could issue him a visa to visit the United States.
