If Moscow refuses to negotiate on Ukraine, the United States may impose duties of 500% on imports from countries that purchase natural resources from the Russian Federation. This was announced on April 1 by a group of American senators in a joint statement.

"These sanctions will be imposed if Russia refuses to negotiate a lasting peace with Ukraine in good faith or undertakes other efforts, including a military invasion, that would undermine Ukraine's sovereignty after peace is concluded. The legislation also imposes 500% duties on imported goods from countries that buy Russian oil, gas, uranium and other products," they said.

The senators who supported this idea represented both the Democratic and Republican parties of the United States.

On the same day, the United States announced active cooperation with Russia and Ukraine to resolve the conflict. White House Spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt also stressed that American leader Donald Trump is personally very involved in the conflict settlement and wants it to end.
