Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree simplifying the procedure for obtaining Russian driver's licenses for citizens of Abkhazia. The relevant decree was presented on April 1 in the list of published legal acts.

"Russian national driver's licenses are issued to citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia who have Russian citizenship or a residence permit in the Russian Federation on the basis of valid driver's licenses," the document says.

Thus, now there is no need for citizens of Abkhazia to take an exam and undergo a health check if they have a valid driver's license.

On March 14, the Russian Foreign Ministry cancelled the recommendation for Russians to refrain from traveling to Abkhazia. However, the department recalled the need to follow the standard rules for Russians traveling on vacation. It is noted that you need to be careful at night and in places that are potentially dangerous, and take into account local customs and traditions.
