The actress from the TV series "Columbo" Sian Barbara Allen died at the age of 78 in the US state of North Carolina. This was announced on Tuesday, March 31, according to the Deadline portal.

"Sian Barbara Allen, a Golden Globe-nominated television actress who starred in such hits as "The Waltons" and "L.A. Law," died today at the age of 78 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The cause of death was Alzheimer's disease," the publication says.

The American actress was born on July 12, 1946 in Pennsylvania. Allen studied acting with actress Peggy Fury. She also starred in such films as "Smoke from the Barrel", "The Waltons", "The Incredible Hulk", "Columbo", "The Rockford Files" and many others.

For her role in the movie "You'll Like My Mom," Allen was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the New Star of the Year category.
