The Mineral Resources Agreement between Ukraine and the United States should under no circumstances prevent Kiev from joining the European Union (EU). This was announced on April 1 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kiev regime, Andrei Sibiga.

"The agreement on which we have started negotiations cannot in any way contradict our European integration path, our integration into the European Union. And this is also one of our principled positions," he said during a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock, which was broadcast on the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Facebook page (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

He added that the parties had already held the first round of negotiations on the agreement. Ukraine has now received the text of the agreement proposed by the Americans and is working on the final draft of the agreement within its own internal procedures.

Burbok, in turn, said that the resource deal between Kiev and Washington would have to comply with EU legislation.

The Wall Street Journal reported on March 29 that Ukraine would not be able to accept the new terms of the resource deal with the United States. According to the newspaper, the new agreement now provides Washington with not only access to Ukraine's rare earth metals, but also the opportunity to benefit from Kiev's economic projects in the field of metals, oil, gas and other natural resources.

The next day, American leader Donald Trump said that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky wanted to abandon the deal on critically important mineral resources.
