- In the USA, they demanded the death penalty for the accused in the murder of the head of UnitedHealthcare

Luigi Mangione, accused of murdering the CEO of one of the largest American insurance companies UnitedHealthcare, faces the death penalty. This was reported on April 1 by ABC TV channel with reference to the US Attorney General Pama Bondi.
"After careful consideration, I have instructed federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty in this case as we implement U.S. President Donald Trump's agenda to end violent crime and keep America safe," Bondi said.
Mangione's lawyer, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, called the decision to seek the death penalty "political" and said it "goes against the recommendation of local federal prosecutors, the law and historical precedent."
Earlier, on December 9, 2024, it became known about the detention of the main suspect in the murder of the CEO of UnitedHealthcare in New York. In Pennsylvania, a man was arrested after he was identified by a McDonald's restaurant employee. Mangione was wearing the same clothes and mask as the shooter. He also had an unregistered ghost pistol with him.
Prior to that, on December 4, 2024, the murder of the chief executive officer of the American insurance company UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, was reported. The man was standing near the hotel where the investor conference was to be held when an unknown person fired several shots at the director.
