Finland may start considering the partial opening of the border with Russia no earlier than the end of 2025, Ilta-Sanomat reports, citing Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

"Nothing can take away from Finland the fact that Russia is and always will be Finland's neighbor on 1,350 km of good—neighborly relations," Stubb stressed.

According to him, if the European Union decides to resume political relations with Russia, Finland may begin negotiations on the eastern border with Russia at the political level.

Earlier in the day, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that the country should prepare for the restoration of relations with Russia. He also stressed that the restoration of Russian-Finnish relations would depend on the end of the conflict in Ukraine.

In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on the words of the Finnish leader, that Russia had never sought to spoil relations with other states, especially with its neighbors, but had always advocated mutually beneficial cooperation.
