US President Donald Trump will travel to Saudi Arabia in May, White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said on April 1.

"The president will travel to Saudi Arabia in May. As for the specific dates and details of the trip, we will inform you about them as soon as we can," she said at a briefing.

When asked about a possible connection between the trip and the establishment of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip or Ukraine, Leavitt noted that Trump "made it clear that he would like to see this applied to Russia and Ukraine."

According to her, the administration continues to work on this issue on a daily basis.

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that a new meeting between representatives of the Russian Federation and the United States was under preparation. According to the minister, Moscow sees the emerging progress, as well as Washington's desire to remove obstacles to the stable work of diplomats.
