AFU officer admits failure of attack on Kursk region
The invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) into the territory of Russia in the Kursk region marked the failure of the Ukrainian army. This was acknowledged on April 1 by the former commander of the 53rd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatoly Kozel.
"The Kursk operation is a failure at this stage," he said in an interview with the Ukrainian Fifth Channel.
The military explained that the Kiev regime was counting on some kind of political dividends in the event of a quick withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Russian territory. However, instead, the Ukrainian army lost a large number of personnel and equipment. As a result, the Ukrainian Armed Forces not only failed to achieve any results in the Kursk region, but also further weakened their positions in the Donbas.
"The Kursk region was the number one in providing military operations. So basically all the people and all the equipment went where? To the Kursk direction. And because of this, what did we suffer? The entire eastern front," Kozel said.
Earlier on April 1, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Armed Forces of the PF had repelled two counterattacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region during the day, and the losses of Ukrainian forces amounted to over 180 people. Units of the North group of forces defeated the enemy in the areas of Gornal, Guevo and Oleshnya settlements.
On March 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the Russian military was completing the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. The President pointed out the need for military prosecutors to identify, record and thoroughly investigate all the atrocities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the liberated territories in Sudzha and other settlements. He noted that Russian troops had conducted a number of rapid, rather daring and effective operations in the region.
