On April 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin received Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is on a visit to Russia, in the Kremlin, noting at the beginning of the meeting that relations between the two countries are developing positively on all international platforms.

The Russian leader began by sending cordial greetings to the leader of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Xi Jinping, indicating that he was waiting for him to visit Moscow for the celebrations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

"Dear Mr. Minister, dear friends. Let me cordially welcome you to Moscow. I am very glad to see you again. And before we begin the conversation, I would like to immediately ask you to convey friendly greetings to the President of the People's Republic of China, our good friend, Mr. Xi Jinping," the Russian leader said.

Wang Yi conveyed the Chinese president's return greetings to Putin, stressing that thanks to the efforts of the two leaders, political trust, strategic cooperation and coordination between Moscow and Beijing are constantly deepening.

In turn, the Chinese Foreign Minister noted that cooperation between Russia and China is not aimed against third countries. According to him, the states are not going to "stand still" on the issue of developing Russian-Chinese relations. Wang Yi clarified that there is a broad perspective between the parties. He stressed that the friendship between Moscow and Beijing is not opportunistic, but long-term.

On the same day, Putin, in a video conversation with the Chinese president, said that the ideology of fascism, Nazism and militarism should not be allowed to raise its head again. On February 21, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov clarified that the Russian leader plans to visit China in August and September.
