With the onset of the warm season, car owners need to pay special attention to the technical condition of their vehicles. On April 2, Alexander Kornev, head of the department for work with importers at Gazprombank Autoleasing, told Izvestia that mandatory procedures would help avoid breakdowns and extend the life of the car.

According to him, the first step is to thoroughly wash the body, paying special attention to the bottom, thresholds, doors and wheel arches, where the remnants of road reagents accumulate. You should also check the condition of the wiper blades, as the rubber wears out faster in winter.

The expert noted that after the winter, it may be necessary to replace the cabin and air filters, as well as clean the radiators. In the engine compartment, it is important to check the tightness of the rubber elements and the presence of oil leaks. Kornev stressed that if traces of technical fluids are found, you should immediately contact the service.

"Spark plugs are more actively accumulating carbon deposits from cold starts, so an additional check won't hurt them either. It is also better to replace the oil after regular winter operation of the car: the liquid in this mode loses its lubricating properties faster, so waiting for a replacement according to the regulations is not useful for the engine," the specialist added.

It is also important to check the summer tires — they must be crack-free and match the permissible tread depth (at least 1.6 mm).

Kornev noticed that the anthers in the suspension also require attention: in winter they often lose their tightness.

"In winter, brakes suffer from dirt from the road, temperature fluctuations and frosts. Therefore, it is in the spring that many cars need to replace the pads, sometimes along with the brake discs," the expert added.

The source also reminded Izvestia about the air conditioner: it is usually not turned on in winter, so it is worth checking it before the start of the season.

"In addition, it is necessary to check the level of brake and coolant fluids, transmission oil," said Kornev.

At the same time, he advised not to neglect cleaning in the trunk.

Earlier, on March 29, Maxim Davidenko, Head of Product and Service Development at Alfa-Leasing Group, told Izvestia what to look for when changing winter tires to summer tires. He explained that when changing seasonal tires, it is necessary to assess the condition and cleanliness of the rims. Operating the car in winter conditions could lead to corrosion or dents. If the dent is large, the tightness of the wheel may be compromised.
