It is impossible to put pressure on Russia, and one can only negotiate peacefully with the Russian side, given that the country is open to good partners. This was announced on April 1 by State Duma deputy Leonid Ivlev, commenting on the calls of Finnish President Alexander Stubb to exert Western pressure on Russia.

"The President of Finland has confused the country he is talking about. Russia cannot be forced. One can only negotiate and cooperate peacefully with Russia. And Russia is always open to kind and good partners, as evidenced by our entire thousand—year history," Duma TV quoted the deputy as saying for Izvestia.

In his opinion, such statements will definitely be taken into account, including during the period of normalization of relations between the states.

Earlier, on March 31, The Financial Times reported that Stubb had called on the West to put pressure on Russia to "force peace." The next day, at a press conference, he said that Finland should mentally prepare for the fact that political relations with Russia will become more open at some point.

At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed at a briefing that Russia has never sought to spoil relations with other states, especially with its neighbors. The Russian Federation has always advocated mutually beneficial cooperation.
