Sergei Mavrin, Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court, has died.

Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court Sergey Mavrin died at the age of 74. This was announced on April 1 by the press service of the Constitutional Court.

"Sergey Petrovich's departure is an irreparable loss for the Constitutional Court and the legal community. The judges and staff of the Constitutional Court express their condolences to the family and friends of Sergei Petrovich Mavrin and grieve with them," reads a message on the Constitutional Court's Telegram channel.

It is noted that Mavrin was an outstanding lawyer, Doctor of Law, professor, author of numerous scientific papers and teacher.

Mavrin was a member of the expert council of the State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy. For 10 years, he represented Russia in the Committee of Experts on the application of conventions and recommendations of the International Labour Organization in the UN system.

In February 2005, Mavrin was appointed to the post of judge of the Constitutional Court, and since 2009 he has been Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation.
