Russian Washington Capitals hockey player Alexander Ovechkin will score five goals before the end of the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season. This opinion was shared by representatives of the hockey club on the official website on April 1.

"With 37 goals in 57 games this season, Ovechkin is now on his way to 42 goals. If Ovechkin scores 42 goals, he will finish the season as the NHL's all—time leading scorer.

The club has nine matches left until the end of the regular season, Sport-Express clarifies.

On March 30, Ovechkin scored his 890th goal in the NHL regular season. Wayne Gretzky currently holds the record with 894 goals. Ovechkin is expected to be able to beat the Canadian in the near future.
