Soviet coins from Putin were transferred to create a monument on Poklonnaya Gora.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov handed over Soviet coins of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his family to Belarusian public figure and Paralympian Alexei Talai to create a monument on Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow. The relevant information was published on April 1 in the Telegram channel "80 years of the Great Victory."
"He collected this Soviet money, what was in his family, and asked me to give it to you," Peskov said when handing over the coins to Talai, who was responsible for the action.
According to Talai, hundreds of thousands of families from Russia and Belarus took part in the creation of the national monument "Living Memory of Grateful Generations". He stressed that the initiative was also supported by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. It is expected that more than 2 million coins will be collected as a result.
"Flasks were solemnly installed throughout the union space of our united fatherland from Brest to Vladivostok, where everyone could bring their coin, one coin from their family, to the general alloy of gratitude in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in honor of our heroes, liberators and our grandfathers and great-grandfathers," Talai specified.
The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation stressed that Putin reacted very warmly to the initiative to create the monument.
In May last year, members of the Night Wolves Club handed over coins to the Victory Museum, which will be used to make a monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
In 2025, May 9 marks the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. In January 1945, the Soviet army launched an offensive against Berlin. As a result of the fighting, at 00:43 Moscow time on May 9, the commanders-in-chief signed the Act of Unconditional Surrender of Germany, which served as the end of the war.
