A record number of applicants are planning to participate in the "Innovator of Moscow" contest — more than 2 thousand people have registered in seven weeks. This is twice as much as in the same period since the start of accepting applications last year, said the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

Scientists, technology entrepreneurs, inventors and innovators over the age of 14 can submit their innovative ideas to the competition. Participants can perform either alone or in a team of up to five people.

"The competition is held in three categories: "Project of the Future," "Changing Reality," and "Leaders of Innovation," Sobyanin wrote on his Telegram channel. — To reach the finals, you need to prove the high-tech, innovative and economic potential of your developments."

There are many promising projects submitted to the competition this year, in particular, a biopolymer implantable membrane for endoprostheses. "The structure of the developed membrane resembles living tissues, which reduces the risk of complications and significantly accelerates recovery after surgery," the mayor noted.

Another Moscow development is a mobile device for quickly assessing the chemical composition of soil and water. The tool is also capable of regulating the supply of water and fertilizers, which increases the efficiency of managing agrotechnical processes.

This year, 36 winners and finalists will receive cash prizes ranging from 100,000 to 1.5 million rubles. In addition, they will be supported in commercializing their developments and setting up their own technology business in the capital, Sobyanin added.
