Bolshunov won the sprint in the final of the Russian Cup in cross-country skiing

Three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov won the freestyle sprint at the final stage of the 2024/25 Russian Ski Cup in Kirovsk, Murmansk Region, Sport-Express reported on April 1.

In the final of the competition, the result of the 28-year-old athlete was 2 minutes 51.31 seconds. Konstantin Tiunov came in second (+1.31 seconds), Savely Korostelev came in third (+1.40).

Two-time world champion in cross-country skiing Sergey Ustyugov failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the competition, coming only third in the quarterfinals.

On Sunday, March 30, Bolshunov also won the 10 km classic split start race at the Russian Cup final in Apatity, Murmansk Region.

On March 6, Norwegian skier Johannes Klebo set a world record for the total number of gold medals at the men's Ski World Championships. At the 2025 World Championships in Trondheim, Bolshunov's peer won the 14th gold medal.
