The number of deaths in accidents involving electric scooters and other means of individual mobility (SIM) increased by more than 25% last year. This was announced by Dmitry Mitroshin, head of the Scientific Center for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, speaking in the Moscow City Duma.
Most of the deaths in SIM accidents were recorded in Moscow and the Krasnodar Territory, he said.
"In absolute terms, the figures are not very high, but, as you can see, the dynamics of the deaths is frightening. The number has increased by more than a quarter compared to last year," Mitroshin said.
According to him, the number of victims of such accidents increased by 44.5% in 2024 and reached 4,591 people (in 2023 — 3,177 people).
The number of accidents with electric scooters and other SIM cards increased by 42.8% over the year and reached 4426 cases, while in 2023 the number of such accidents amounted to 3.1 thousand.

So, only one person can ride an electric scooter and other SIM cards. It is allowed to use such vehicles on a bicycle or an all-terrain bike path, the roadway of a bicycle zone, a lane for cyclists, sidewalks and pedestrian areas, if no forbidding road signs are installed in these places.
