The Russian-Chinese summit will be held in May. This was announced on April 1 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Moscow.

"We are glad to welcome you to Moscow on an official visit by Mr. Wang Yi, whose purpose of the visit is to prepare for the upcoming Russian-Chinese summit in May," he said in his opening speech.

The Russian Foreign Minister said that meetings between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping always give a powerful impetus to bilateral relations. According to him, thanks to the heads of state, Russian-Chinese relations have reached an unprecedented level and continue to develop dynamically in all areas.

Earlier in the day, Wang Yi said that Russia and China intend to defend the results of the Second World War and advocate for a fair interpretation of those events. He stressed that the states strive to take bilateral relations "to new heights" and work on the development of the world order in a "rational direction."
