- Tugboats brought the Koala emergency tanker from the berth to the Ust-Luga water area

The Koala emergency tanker was taken by port tugs from the pier of the Ust-Luga seaport to open water in the port area. This was announced on April 1 by the Maritime Rescue Service.
"The cargo from the emergency vessel, a little less than 130 thousand tons of fuel oil, was completely pumped out into the tanks of the oil loading terminal and the tanks of a tanker specially designated for these purposes," the Maritime Rescue Service said in a Telegram channel.
They clarified that the ship has now been taken from the pier of the Ust-Luga seaport to open water. In the near future, a tugboat will be identified that will deliver the Koala tanker to the ship repair plant in St. Petersburg.
On March 24, it became known that almost 30 thousand tons of fuel oil had been pumped out of the Koala emergency tanker. Before the operation, rescuers completely repaired the damage to the hull to prevent fuel spillage.
On February 9, it was reported that the Koala tanker, carrying 130 thousand tons of fuel oil, sank in the port of Ust-Luga. Later, the governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko, said that the ship's engine had failed, resulting in damage to the engine room. He noted that the tanker is moored at the pier, and there is no threat of an oil spill.
