Before disposing of the phone, you need to transfer and erase all information, log out of all cloud services, and reset your smartphone to factory settings or use special tools to prevent recovery of deleted data. Anton Averyanov, CEO of the ST IT Group of companies and TechNet market expert at the National Technology Initiative (NTI), told Izvestia on April 1.

"Before you part with your smartphone, do not forget to save everything that is dear to you — photos, contacts, documents. Transfer them to another device or to the cloud, such as iCloud or Google Drive, and don't forget to pull out the memory card if you have one. This will help to avoid accidental transfer of your data to someone else," he said.

Next, you need to completely erase the information from the phone, the expert said. A simple factory reset may not work — the data can still be recovered. It is better to use special tools or built-in functions such as "erase all contents and settings" on iPhone or recovery mode on Android. This will make the information almost unrecoverable.

You should also not skip deleting the device from cloud accounts — through the iCloud or Google website, for example. Otherwise, the new owner may gain access to the data of the previous user online, Averyanov stressed. After that, you need to think about how to get rid of your phone: recycle it, donate it to charity, or sell it through a reliable platform.

"If the data is not properly erased, there is a risk that someone will recover it and gain access to your personal information. But with the right approach — using secure erasure — this threat becomes minimal. It's better to spend a little time so that you don't worry later," concluded the CEO of the ST IT group of companies.

Earlier, on March 21, it was reported that during the year Apple rose from third place to first in the top 5 popular smartphones of Russians, displacing Xiaomi and Samsung to the second and third lines, respectively. Huawei occupies the fourth position, and Realme occupies the fifth. This is stated in the results of a study of the service for accepting online and offline payments in YUKASSA and the federal mobile virtual operator Sberbank Mobile.
