A fire season has been officially declared in the Pskov Region since April 1. The corresponding order was signed by the head of the region Mikhail Vedernikov.

In this regard, a ban on the use of open fire in forests is being introduced. In particular, it is forbidden to make bonfires, use barbecues, throw cigarette butts, burning matches and hot ashes, and leave glass objects that can cause a fire. During hunting, it is forbidden to use wads of combustible materials, refuel cars with the engine turned on, or work using an open fire on peat bogs, the Pskov News feed clarifies.

The governor appealed to residents of the region to take precautions to prevent fires and minimize damage.

Earlier, on April 1, it was reported that in the Trans-Baikal Territory, visits to forest areas for citizens were temporarily restricted. The area of wildfires exceeded the figures for 2024.
