Last year, the volume of investments in Moscow's economy grew by 4.4%, exceeding 8 trillion rubles for the first time, said Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

According to him, 0.8 trillion of this amount was invested by the Moscow government, and about 400 billion rubles were invested by the Russian government. But the main volume of investments attracted businesses.

The funds were allocated, in particular, for the purchase of machinery and equipment (2.8 trillion rubles). More than 2 trillion rubles have been invested in the construction and reconstruction of non-residential buildings and structures. More than 1.5 trillion rubles were invested in intellectual property (mainly software) and 1.4 trillion rubles were allocated for the construction of residential real estate.

"Large-scale investments are the main driver of Moscow's development. This is a guarantee of the sustainable functioning of the economy, the creation of new jobs and an increase in living standards," Sobyanin said, adding that last year "the capital accounted for over 20% of the total Russian investment."
