A high-alert regime has been introduced in the Irkutsk region amid the threat of floods due to snowmelt. This was announced on April 1 by Governor Igor Kobzev.

"I signed a decree on the introduction of a high-alert regime in the region. All operational services should be able to move as quickly as possible to eliminate flooding. Floods are expected in the near future due to the melting snow," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The governor clarified that flooding was observed in the village of Khomutovo, but later the water penetrated into the village of Ust-Ordynsky, where its level rose above normal on one of the streets.

According to Kobzev, specialized equipment for opening the roadway has been used to eliminate flooding, and a fire pumping station has also been installed. He added that the situation is under control until the consequences are completely eliminated.

On March 29, Kobzev reported that in three days in the village of Khomutovo, rescuers had pumped water out of 12 households. He clarified that the pumping work was carried out in houses located on Ternovaya, Teplichnaya, Sibirskaya, Izumrudnaya and Vladimirskaya streets.
