FT reported on the plans of the USA and Denmark to hold high-level talks

The United States and Denmark may soon hold talks at the highest diplomatic level for the first time since the beginning of Donald Trump's second presidential term. This was reported on April 1 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper.
"Danish Foreign Minister [Lars Loekke Rasmussen] intends to meet with US Secretary of State [Marco Rubio] this week as part of the first high-level personal diplomatic talks between the two countries since the re-election of US President Donald Trump and his promise to 'take control' of the Danish island of Greenland," two official sources told the publication.
The meeting is expected to take place on Thursday, April 3, within the framework of the Congress of Foreign Ministers of the NATO member states in Brussels. At the same time, the visit of Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen to Greenland will be the backdrop for a potential contact between Rubio and Rasmussen.
"Some Greenlandic politicians initially took advantage of Trump's interest to try to advance their desire for independence from Copenhagen, but there are increasing signs that Greenlanders see danger in separating from Denmark too hastily," the FT points out.
Earlier, on March 30, Trump did not rule out the use of military force to annex Greenland. According to him, there is a high probability that Washington will be able to do this without using military force, but he did not rule out the opposite scenario. The American president said on March 27 that Greenland's accession to the United States is necessary to ensure national and international security.
