A Russian soldier defeated an AFU militant and captured him.

Maxim Grigoriev, a fighter from Yakutia, a mechanic-driver of a T-80 tank with the call sign "Max" defeated a militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in hand-to-hand combat and captured him. This was announced on Tuesday, April 1, by the Russian Defense Ministry.

During the task of liberating the village of Skudnoye in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), the crew of a T-80 tank hit an enemy mine. As a result, the tank brigade of the Vostok group decided to hide from the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the nearest forest belt.

When the fighters dispersed to minimize the risks, the driver headed for the dilapidated building.

"In the building… the situation turned out to be like this, I was looking for a place to hide from drones, look at a map, and decide on a place to leave. And there, a Ukrainian observer from the Armed Forces of Ukraine was sitting in a niche," the Russian serviceman shared his memories.

According to Grigoriev, the enemy, armed with a machine gun, took aim at him. However, after an indifferent response from the command on the radio to make their own decision, the APU fighter allowed the driver to leave. But Grigoriev guessed that they were going to shoot him in the back anyway.

"When I heard the shutter click twice, I realized that the machine was jammed. It was the only chance," the taxi driver said.

So, he distracted the attention of the Ukrainian militant by throwing a stone, and then engaged in hand-to-hand combat with him and neutralized him. Then the defeated fighter of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was placed at the disposal of the Russian troops.
