The head of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, demanded to provide a report on the investigation of the criminal case into the desecration of the grave of Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak, who died in the area of a special military operation. This was announced on March 31 by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in its Telegram channel.

"The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed to report on the investigation of a criminal case into the damage to the military graves of the dead in the area of the SVO in the Republic of Crimea," the agency's publication says.

They clarified that the identity of the attackers is currently being established.

On the morning of March 31, it became known that vandals had burned and vandalized Fedorchak's grave. A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Abuse of the bodies of the deceased and their burial places").

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the situation with the burning of Fedorchak's grave monstrous and pointed out the need to apply harsh measures to those responsible. He noted that the law provides for appropriate measures against those who commit such acts.

Fedorchak's father called the desecration of the grave an act of terrorism. He also stressed that their family had no enemies and they had never received threats.

Fedorchak's death became known on March 24.
