The Ministry of Foreign Affairs proposed to extend the validity period of electronic visas to 120 days

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has proposed to increase the period of stay in Russia for foreigners who have issued electronic visas from 60 to 120 days. This was reported by TASS on March 31, having read the explanatory note to the planned amendments to the law.

"The draft federal law On Amendments to the Law On the Procedure for Entry into and Exit from the Russian Federation provides for an increase in the validity period of a single electronic visa from 60 to 120 days," the document says.

It is also planned to increase the permitted period of stay of a foreign citizen in Russia from 16 to 30 days "while maintaining the multiplicity of this visa."

"A single electronic visa gives the right to enter Russia on a guest or business visit as a tourist, as well as to participate in cultural, political, sports events and to establish contacts and contacts. Such a visa is issued to citizens of more than 60 countries, the list of which has been approved by the Russian government," said Vladimir Gruzdev, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Bar Association.

Earlier, on February 12, the Ministry of Economic Development announced work on visa facilitation with African countries. In addition, the Russian side is also working on the complete abolition of visas with several other mainland countries. Earlier, in September 2024, it was reported that Russia and Zimbabwe could sign an agreement on the introduction of a visa-free regime.
