Doctor of Law De Vel said about the political bias in the Le Pen case

Marine Le Pen, the leader of the French right-wing National Unification party, was found guilty in the case of parliamentary assistants from the very beginning. Philippe De Vel, Doctor of Law, informed Izvestia about this on March 31.
"At the moment, Le Pen is still a member of parliament and chairman of the National Assembly, so she is not excluded politically, but she is excluded as a political alternative to the highest office in the country," he said.
The expert expressed the opinion that the courts could sentence Le Pen, but not appoint a "presidential execution." According to him, it should be decided by the French people. He clarified that he himself puts people's sovereignty above judicial power.
De Vel also stressed that French President Emmanuel Macron is constitutionally unable to nominate his candidacy for re-election in 2027.
On March 31, a court in Paris found Le Pen guilty of embezzling European Parliament funds in a case involving the creation of fictitious jobs. She was sentenced to four years in prison, two of which were suspended, and the rest were placed under house arrest while wearing an electronic bracelet.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the court's decision, said that European countries do not shy away from going beyond democracy during the political process.
