Veterinarian Evgeny Tsyplenkov warned that feline coronavirus is deadly for cats.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Monday, March 31, the specialist explained that there are many different types of coronavirus: feline, canine, dolphin virus, seagulls, and so on. Feline coronavirus is "completely far from human" and is not dangerous for humans, the expert noted. About 90% of all cats are infected with it, this disease has existed for a long time, it was detected long before the pandemic.

The veterinarian warned that under certain conditions, cats develop mild intestinal infections, sometimes they go unnoticed, but sometimes "it mutates and develops like a coronavirus" into a more aggressive strain, RNA cleavage occurs, which causes the animal to die.

Tsyplenkov called for rapid tests to be performed on cats in a timely manner.

In October last year, Natalya Grezina, a veterinarian, named the signs that indicate the pet's ill health and the need to go to a veterinary clinic. In particular, it is worth paying attention if the pet begins to tire quickly and does not tolerate physical exertion well, if he develops an unmotivated refusal of outdoor games, lethargy and general weakness.
