Plus, there are different scales of advertising campaigns. The second "Palm Tree" is a continuation of the hit about a dog in the style of "Hachiko", the picture already has a loyal audience, and releases with animals in the center of the plot, as a rule, attract the general public to cinemas. The "Master" also has a few aces up its sleeve: the action movie starring Jason Statham is a kind of quality mark, plus the film received decent critical ratings for the genre.

If the marketing of the film had been broader, the release results would have been more impressive, Olga Zinyakova is sure.

The domestic hit "Zhdun" is in the third position of the EAIS rating. Dmitry Suvorov's fantasy comedy for the whole family, which followed "Palm 2" last week when the films were released, skipped "The Master" ahead. But these pictures show stability. If Zhdun collected 93 million in the first weekend, then 90.3 million in the second, this happens very rarely and indicates success. This is a film about the adventures of a popular character in popular culture and the hero of countless Internet memes, with a fascinating plot, comical situations and a stellar cast. The main roles in the film were played by Viktor Khorinyak, Yulia Alexandrova, Vladislav Vetrov and Nikita Tarasov. As well as young actors Andrey Andreev and Margarita Silaeva.

"Zhdun" lags behind the leader, "Palma 2", a film from the same age category of 6+, by 43 million rubles for the second weekend and 123 million rubles in the overall standings.

Pushkin is the best

There are two paintings from the February premieres at the top of the box office. These are Andrei Volgin's "Red Silk" (at the box office for six weeks) and "The Prophet. The Story of Alexander Pushkin" by Felix Umarov (seven weeks). The first earned 660 million at the box office, the second — 1.55 billion. According to Olga Zinyakova, Alexander Sergeevich, who reads rap, is at least interesting. And this encourages viewers to go to the cinema and draw their own conclusions about such an atypical presentation of the material.

— We also keep in mind the fact that costume films always look good on big screens, the viewer would rather give money for a ticket to such a movie than to a chamber drama, — says Olga Zinyakova.

As the EAIS shows, the viewer is also planning to watch "The Prophet" in April. There is also increased interest in the film with Milos Bikovic. Tickets for "Red Silk" were bought for 181 thousand rubles, and for the opportunity to evaluate Yuri Borisov in the role of Pushkin in April, the audience has already paid 760 thousand rubles.

If we compare the "centenarians" of the Russian box office "Prophet" and "Red Silk", then the factor that cuts off a decent share of the audience from the second is the age limit. Volgin's film can be viewed by viewers of the 16+ category. Students can come to the Prophet from the age of 12. Another factor is the number of sessions. In six weeks at the box office, Andrei Volgin's film was shown at 93 thousand sessions. In seven weeks, Felix Umarov's painting about Pushkin was 181 thousand times. The advantage is obvious.

— It was "The Prophet" that took away an impressive part of the box office from the film, also a costume story, — says the president of the KARO cinema chain. — In general, this project is working within expectations. Let's recall Hollywood's "Murder on the Orient Express" and "Death on the Nile", which inspired the film, they also did not exceed the 1 billion mark at the Russian box office. In most cases, the coveted billion in Russia is taken away either by fabulous family paintings or powerful biopics with actors of the first magnitude, and here "Red Silk" lost somewhat to the trio of Pushkin, Borisov and Umarov with frenzied virality.

Children's and family movies are obviously popular. The fairy tale "The Frog Princess" by Alexander Amirov has not left the top five for the fourth week. The average occupancy of cinemas per session is 18 people. At the start, the audience's interest in the family fantasy was 23 people. Having started from the leading position with 201 million at the box office, "The Frog Princess" was able to stay on the first line for only one more week, and then descended to the fourth line of the rating. In the last weekend, fantasy starring Alexander Metelkin and Valentina Lyapina rounded out the top five with 54.4 million rubles.
