The state prosecution has requested 13 years in prison for ex-deputy head of the Ministry of Finance Parshin

The prosecutor asked the Khamovnichesky District Court of Moscow to sentence Maxim Parshin, the former deputy head of the Ministry of Finance, accused of accepting bribes, to 13 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony. This was reported on March 31 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

The state prosecution requested that Parshin be fined 315 million rubles. For Alexander Monosov, the former CEO of Budget and Financial Technologies, who is accused of bribery, the prosecutor's office asked for 12 years in a high-security penal colony and a fine of 500 million rubles. In the case of the bribe, the property of both defendants in the amount of about 200 million rubles was seized.

On the same day, Monosov was taken into custody for two months for repeated violations of a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave — according to the state prosecutor, the businessman left Moscow 14 times, although he received permission for only four trips per month.

Parshin is charged with Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Receiving a particularly large bribe) and Monosov was charged with Part 5 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Giving a bribe to an official on an especially large scale).

According to investigators, in 2023, Parshin received a bribe of 3.75 million rubles for allocating a grant to Monosov's company, which specialized in the development of IT solutions.

None of the defendants pleaded guilty.

The Moscow City Court began to consider the merits of the case of the former deputy defense Minister.

Earlier that day, the Sverdlovsk District Court of Belgorod sentenced Veronika Novikova, the former Deputy Minister of Housing and Communal Services of the region, to eight years in prison in a general regime colony and a fine of 10.7 million rubles for accepting a large bribe.
